For many people, taking to the skies behind the controls of a plane is a lifelong dream. Unfortunately, far too many people leave it as just that - a dream. There's no way a normal person has the ability to learn to fly, right? Or the money? Or the time? Since most people just see pilots in the movies, there's a whole lot of misinformation that exists. And a lot of that misinformation has kept people from pursuing their dream. If you're interested in flight training school, here's a look at three things you probably get wrong about being a pilot.
Assumption #1: It takes years to be a pilot
Flight training takes time for sure. But how long it takes depends on how much time you're able to devote to learning. Some people might only be able to put in a few hours one day a month, and for them, yes, it might take years. But if you're able to do just a couple of hours three days a week, you can knock that time down to just a few months. If you think you can't be a pilot because you don't have years to learn, know that it doesn't always take that long!
Assumption #2: You won't be able to learn everything you need to fly
Looking at everything it takes to be a pilot, it seems pretty daunting. There's a lot to learn before you even get in the cockpit, and it takes months and months of training to get your license. You might think that you'll never learn everything you need to get your license. Here's the truth though: you indeed will never learn it all. Even veteran pilots and instructors are always learning. Don't think that just because you'll never know it all, you'll never know what you need.
Assumption #3: Pilots must be incredibly intelligent to learn what they do
If you see a pilot navigating numerous buttons and throwing out all sorts of technical jargon, you might be under the impression that you have to be incredibly intelligent to be a pilot. But here's the truth: pilots are intelligent at what they do for sure, but you don't need an advanced degree to begin. A basic understanding of physics and trigonometry helps, but even that isn't required. As long as you have the passion and desire, you can learn to fly. Flight training schools provide you with great resources and great people that can help you in the right direction.
If you're interested in flight training schools, understand this: it's not easy, but it's by no means unattainable. Don't let misinformation stop you from achieving your dream!
